Finishing mower overhaul

PART 5

In recent weeks I’ve been tying a few loose ends regarding the projects I’ve been busy with. Work on the finishing mower has now been completed and the machine is now ready to do battle this season.

It arrived as a very neglected machine, not having seen any proper maintenance for a long time. This had resulted in worn blade shafts and bearings, together with worn bearings in one of the caster wheels.

All these have now been replaced and the mower deck repaired where necessary, and the whole machine treated to some fresh paint.

FINAL TASKS

There have, however, been some jobs hitherto uncovered in , regarding the reassembly of the driveline and tensioning of the drive belts. The blade drive pulleys had already been fitted, leaving the gearbox and its support bracket to be attached. All the mounting holes in the deck had been cleaned out, using an M10 tap, and new setscrews used when fitting the gearbox.
