When Annie climbed onto the roof to patch up her skylight, she thought it would be a quick fix

Stepping in a puddle pooling in the middle of the garage floor, I looked up to see water streaming through the perspex skylight.

It was a Friday night in May last year, and the rain had been torrential all week.

I need to get up there and fix it, I thought.

Living on my own, I was often doing DIY jobs and repairing things.

I ran a laundromat, but on the side I also collected unwanted furniture from local clean-ups
