Century on the horizon

IN MY last article (Cage & Aviary Birds, April 3), I mentioned some of the positives that had occurred in my birdroom during the current breeding season. I am pleased to say that with some colours the results have continued to be promising and that with some others shortcomings have been addressed by setting new pairs. By the end of March, I had fitted 96 chicks with 2024 closed rings, which considering the very slow start to this breeding compares well with the end of March 2023: coincidentally, it was the same number.
