A GRAND OLD DUKE…

Super nakeds are currently all the rage and there is a huge variety to choose from, each with their own plus and minus points. However, one bike stands out from the crowd, not only due to its engine configuration, but also for its unashamedly brash and bold attitude – the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. Or, as KTM still insists on calling it, The Beast.

Unleashed in 2013, the 1290 Super Duke R built on the growing reputation of the 990 Super Duke to create a balls-out super naked that KTM took great pleasure in marketing as, well, a bit of an animal. Yep, where rivals decided on a more subdued approach to promotion, KTM employed a stunt rider and said, ‘go for it!’.
