    What is whooping cough? Five babies die after spike in UK cases, UKHSA data shows

    At least five babies have died from whooping cough this year as UK cases reached 2,793 between January and March, the UK Health Security Agency has reported. 

    The agency said on Thursday (May 9) that 1,319 cases were confirmed in March, following 556 cases in January and 918 in February.
