AT AGE 10 I became interested in thermodynamics. This resulted in early experiments that involved ¾-inch galvanized pipe, lady finger firecrackers, and marbles. I won’t go into details, but my research abruptly ended when my cousin, Jay, attempted to outdo me, which resulted in his being taken to the emergency room.
