ROUTES BIG DAYS OUT

of daylight upon us, it’s time for some epic adventures. We’ve plucked three big beauties from across the country, which will give your legs the wake-up call they probably need. First up is the Tour of Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands. Starting from the cycling hotspot of Fort William, this route heads out into wild, remote backcountry. It’s best attempted when it hasn’t been raining, because there are countless burns (streams) to cross, and it’s remote and exposed. After leaving Fort Bill behind, an old military road leads you to great views of the UK’s highest peak, Ben Nevis. There are other mountain ranges as the ride goes on, too, such as the Mamores and Grey Corries.
