FIRST PERSON SINGULAR
I BEGAN keeping and breeding roller canaries when my father gave up budgerigars and I took over the now-empty birdroom and aviary complex in 1947.
Along with Dad, I was a member, of the local cage bird club. A breeder of Borders gave me a number of birds and soon I had a collection of all sorts, including British hardbills and foreign finches.
