SHOWJUMPING – LEANNE HESLOP says…
Q My gelding always chips in a stride before a fence at the last minute, which I didn't find a problem when we were jumping 80cm courses, but now that we are moving up the levels he is knocking down a few during each round. What exercises can I try at home that will help?
Ella Weatherford, Wiltshire
There are a few things that need to be looked at in this situation, but it is all focused on one thing: the quality of the canter. A good showjumping canter needs to have a good rhythm and tempo, with a stride that is even and correct in length.
