The Tour is there for the taking

No one is denying the swagger of the two men who ruled the Monuments this spring: Tadej Pogačar and Mathieu van der Poel. Nor the swashbuckling panache of 50 per cent of the above who, by the time you read this, may well be leading the Giro d’Italia by a record-breaking margin (while riding at 50 per cent of his ability). But let’s be honest. Total supremacy, however spellbinding, does not make for edge-of-the-seat viewing.
