BALMORAL The one-time Red Funnel vessel dating from 1949 and now undergoing restoration in Bristol, has received a grant of £248,318-00 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Balmoral was built to carry passengers and up to 10 stern loaded between Southampton and Cowes until leaving the fleet in 1968 and was part of P&A. Campbell’s Bristol Channel line-up until 1980. During winter 2002 the vessel’s original Newbury Sirron diesel engine was replaced with six-cylinder Denmark-built Grena units. RP
