While she was being refitted by Cammell Laird on the Mersey, the Cal Mac ferry Caledonian IslesArdrossan-Brodick route at the Richards Shipyard in Lowestoft and carrying 1,000 passengers and 120 cars, the vessel has a service speed of 15 knots from twin Mirrlees diesel engines with an output of 4,265kW.
