Q I live in Eastbourne and only seem to catch small fish on my local beach sessions every few weeks. I am contemplating a trip abroad to try for some bigger fish. I am wondering if any of your contributors have any suggestions. I haven’t had anything over 6lb in my five years of sea angling. Any help would be appreciated in terms of where to go.

CK says: Speaking from my own excursions abroad, there are two destinations that spring to mind, with both being very popular with sea anglers from the UK.
Norway offers fantastic scenery, deep water and giant cod, halibut, pollock, coafish, ling and plaice, as well as plenty of species like haddock, ghost sharks and long nose skate. It really is a fantastic experience. However, it can be pretty cold and it isn’t the cheapest of options. Somewhere like Skarnsundet in the Trondheimsfjord would probably set you back around a £1,000 for a week, including flights, accommodation (self-catering), fuel and car hire,
