Will racial hatred remain with us forever?

COMMITTED TO CHANGE

OVER the years the making and unmaking of communities was shaped by various events. Group identity was reinforced by Group Areas and “Own Affairs” legislation. This was unmade with the democratic elections in 1994, and the non-racial character of society was in the making.

Currently this is being unmade with racial fears, insecurity linked to crime, a weak and declining economy, and the growing ethnic identity-based movement.

Is our society becoming more divided due to greed, corruption, state failures and the lack of political hegemony? Will racial hatred
