A CHORUS of snuffles, snorts and barks led by a pug named Molly greets us at this East Rand haven for little flat-faced hounds.
Pooches are everywhere – snoozing on beds, lying on the laps of their human carers, snuggling under blankets, rooting around for snacks.
Around 200 pugs rule the roost here and they live like royalty, thanks to Cheryl Gaw, the Good Samaritan who’s rescued more than 2 000 of the dogs over the past 16 years.
Cheryl (62) and her husband, Malcolm (71), founded Pug Rescue South Africa in Benoni and have devoted their lives to caring for the animals.
