SOFTBILLS
IN MY opinion, the foreign bird fraternity doesn't follow the strict use of additives, etc, with their stock as much as the canary, budgie, and parrotlike keepers do. British bird keepers probably have a strict régime of offering these products. I and other breeder/keepers use these products more sporadically and in times of need. The broad range of products available make it a minefield to use! You have to judge which is the best and also which is the best value.
The price of all foreign bird foods, such seeds and softfood, has shot up. I always think a balanced diet probably gives our birds what they need.
Granted, when the birds are just coming into condition in early January, aautumn leading into the moult. I use Birdcare Feather Up in autumn and swear by it. It has got some birds through a difficult moult and others that for some reason are in poor feather at any time of year. It is not easy to know why a bird or birds suddenly drop into poor feather. It could be stress or a diet issue.
