The Eternal Heir Turned King: How Charles III Establishes His Mark on Coins

When reflecting on the life of Queen Elizabeth II, one cannot ignore the many records set by the monarch of the century: she achieved the longest reign of any British monarch, surpassing Queen Victoria on Sept. 9, 2015. Elizabeth II ruled for a total of 70 years, from 1952 until her death in 2022. At age 96, she was also the oldest reigning British monarch and the head of state with the most state visits, traveling to over 100 countries and undertaking more than 270 official foreign trips. Her marriage to Prince Philip was also record-breaking, lasting over 73 years. And lastly, Queen Elizabeth II witnessed more prime ministers come and go than any of her predecessors, overseeing 15 different heads of government.
