While bathrooms may have had a glamorous update recently (think marble, bespoke vanities and superluxe tapware), it’s important not to forget that they are also functional spaces – where we clean ourselves, do our make-up and, occasionally, relax.
It is time to highlight the often-ignored, more functional (yet no less essential) aspects of good bathroom design. Because, like all wet areas, bathrooms are subjected to special regulations and requirements. When one or more of those goes awry, things can go horribly wrong. Anyone who has experienced a foggy bathroom, a slow-draining sink or a leaky shower will know how important it is to make sure the details are covered, and the practicalities are sorted.
