Trapped in hell

Turning off the lamp, I snuggled into my pillow, ready for sleep.

It was July 2022, and I'd enjoyed a day off from running my eyelash-extension business.

Playing tennis, catching up with my sister Elena, then 36, on the phone.

She lived in Austria, but we chatted constantly.

Around 5am, I woke up feeling sick and dizzy.

I drifted back off but hours later I woke again, still feeling terrible, and stumbled to the bathroom.
