The ubiquitous pressure washer is typically one of those reliable bits of kit that is only given attention when something goes wrong. With a little bit of care, breakdowns can be avoided and the service life of a pressure washer can be extended. A well-maintained pressure washer is less likely to let you down when you need it most.

To get an idea of what to look for we visited pressure cleaner manufacturer Meier-Brakenberg in Germany to pick up some inspection and maintenance tips from the company’s service engineer Dirk Grenner. The company’s professional pressure washers are typically easy to maintain with easy access to key components. More mass market designs may be less easy to look after and be fitted with components that are designed to be replaced as opposed to repaired.
