f there is one industry that most family historians had relatives involved it was may have had farmers or form workers. Sometimes in the census they are described as agricultural workers (male and female) or the occupation might be specifically given as farm grieve, cattleman, ploughman etc. In my own familyfirst published in 1984, and Ian Levitt & Christopher Smout’s published in 1979, are both excellent guides to Scottish farm workers employment.
