More than half of all HS2 tunnelling completed

EXCAVATION of the 22-metre (72ft) deep western portal of the 3.5-mile Bromford Tunnel at Washwood Heath in Birmingham was completed in May.

The tunnel will run from Water Orton in Warwickshire and, launched from Water Orton last year, is expected to arrive by the end of this year and should complete its drive of the adjacent bore in autumn 2025.
