Date set for Blackpool extension opening

ALMOST seven years after it was approved by the Transport Secretary and over five years since it was originally expected to see tram services, the £23.4 million Talbot Road extension of Blackpool’s tramway is finally set to open this month.

Around 600 metres (656 yards) of route has been constructed from a junction with the Promenade line at North Pier to a new double-track terminus outside the Holiday Inn, opposite Blackpool North station.
