When Dai Henwood revealeded last year that he had stage-four bowel cancer, there was an outpouring of shock and overwhelming love. Butas a Daffodil Day ambassador last year, Dai said, “I’m in that situation of being able to give back a little, which selfishly helps me – helping people makes me feel really good about things.” Now he’s set to help even more people with his new book which is an emotional but also hugely entertaining account of his life, from his childhood and early days in comedy through to the incurable cancer that turned his world upside down. Having recently had a close friend diagnosed, I devoured the book in a couple of days. I’m just in awe of Dai – and even more so after reading his interview with writer and fellow comedian Donna Brookbanks on page 12. Dai, you’re a legend. The world is a better place because you’re in it.
