Kate would have loved to have come, says Prince William as King and Camilla shed tears at D-Day event

The Prince of Wales has said his wife, Kate, who is recovering following her cancer treatment, would have loved to have joined the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Asked by a veteran at a major event in Portsmouth whether the Princess of Walves was “getting any better”, William appeared to say “she is”.

The prince added: “She’d love to be here today.”
