Gardening is a wonderfully relaxing pastime and hand watering can be a peaceful, meditative practice.

It also allows gardeners to observe each of their plants in turn, noticing how they’re growing and if they need any extra care.

While such interaction keeps us in touch with our gardens, if we’re regularly watering large numbers of plant pots it can all get fiddly and time-consuming.

Smaller garden beds are relatively quick and easy to water — if the soil’s sufficiently rich in organic matter, it tends to hold sufficient moisture for longer.
