Keith is a retired application engineer who lives in the New Forest. It wasn’t until he moved to digital that he picked up his first Nikon. The D80 opened the DSLR floodgates and, about seven years ago, he decided to embark on what would become the first of many landscape and macro photography workshops to sharpen his skills. Impressed with his wife’s Z 6, he moved to mirrorless and is now hoping Mark can wring every drop of potential out of his mighty Nikon Z 8.

Award-winning landscape photographer Mark has photographed the width and breadth of England’s south-west. He turned pro over 17 years ago, and has since authored a variety of books and featured in a number of photography publications. In 2008 he co-founded Dawn 2 Dusk Photography, which provides landscape workshops and tours, so he’ll have no problem providing Keith the tuition he needs to up his skill set. www.markbauerphotography.com
Mark and Keith met up just outside the idyllic Dorset village of Hinton St Mary, where a corridor of beech trees is a favourite haunt for landscape photographers. “When somebody told me rapeseed had been planted in the neighbouring field, I knew we had to take a look,” said Mark as the pair set up their tripods at the foot of the tree-lined avenue and prepared for the shoot. “Do many people know this place?” asked Keith, as he unzipped his kit bag.
“It used to be a secret, but now everyone comes here,” said Mark. “It’s so easy to find locations on social media nowadays. And while we all do it, there’s something to be said for getting out there and exploring.
