CARLYLE DRIVE HOUSE BY ME

It was not the first time I had encountered a project by Matthew Eagle and his practice ME for clients Libby and Josh Brady. This new renovation in the southern Gold Coast suburb of Currumbin followed a new build on the edge of the nearby Currumbin Valley that I had reviewed a few years earlier (Tierney Drive House, see Houses 128). These two projects have much in common: clear, thoughtful planning, reflecting the needs of a growing and now multigenerational family; timber finishes and joinery (by Josh himself) that is as fine in execution as it is both distinctive and ample; and a clear impression of comfort, reflecting the clients’ values.
