Most people don’t believe something can happen until it already has. That’s not stupidity or weakness…that’s just human nature. We hate to think about bad things happening so we always underestimate their likelihood.
Preparation for one’s own demise already feels like it’s awkwardly contrary to reason, but doing so for your nearest and dearest just feels excessively morbid.
But is it really?
Growing up, Pie Alvarez, recalls having had open and practical conversations about the imminent. “When it came to matters of life and death, my parents explained to me that our
