PUMPKIN PADDLE

A man has travelled down the Tumut River in the country’s current largest pumpkin.

After securing a blue ribbon at the Royal Easter Show for the 407-kilogram vegetable, Mark Peacock was approached by his friend, Adam Farquharson with the crazy idea. Farquharson hollowed out the prize-winning pumpkin, converted it into a canoe, christened it with the name ‘Cinderella’ and embarked on his 1.6-kilometre journey. With spectators cheering on from the sides of the river, Farquharson claimed his motive behind the stunt was to simply have fun and make people smile. Locals have since nicknamed Farquharson as ‘Popeye the Pumpkin Man’ who said, “I’ve paddled that river so many times, [but] that’s the most fun I’ve ever had floating down
