Didcot anniversary mini gala – as auto tank nears completion

THE Great Western Society marked its 55th anniversary witha mini-steam gala event at the Didcot Railway Centre on May 11/12, with Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Class 23 0-6-0ST No. 752 visiting from the East Lancashire Railway.

Although it was hoped that GWR 1400 0-4-2Tcelebrations, further works required to complete the boiler have delayed progress, meaning it was ultimately unavailable. The anniversary is therefore expected to be marked properly later in the year when the auto tank returns to service.
