'Hoover' mishaps fail to disrupt Swanage diesel gala success

IT is a weekend that has become an annual fixture in the calendar for many diesel traction enthusiasts, with a variety of popular heritage and rare modern locomotives to be sampled, along with a plethora of beers from the accompanying festival, and this year’s Swanage diesel gala was another roaring success–although it was not without incident when two visiting locomotives encountered problems on successive days.

Reported to be and 33111–alongside eight visiting locomotives that included Class 20 Nos. 20302 and 20111 (Harry Needle Railroad Company), Class 24 D5054 (East Lancashire Railway), Class 37 No. 37219 (Colas Rail), Class 50 Nos. 50021 and 50026 (Paul Spracklen), class 52 D1015 (Diesel Traction Group) and Class 69 No. 69002 (GB Railfreight).
