Another big diesel winner for the Severn Valley gala season

THE SevernValley Railway has followed up on last year’s success with modern traction events as more than 5000 visitors attended the May 16-19 Spring Diesel Festival.

Visitor numbers significantly exceeded expectations, and ato its 60th anniversary in 2025. As reported in issue 316, the line won the Heritage Railway Association 2024 Award for Diesel and Electric Locomotion, while managing director Jonathan ‘Gus’ Dunster received Preservationist of the Year Award, both for his work asa volunteer with the Class 50 Alliance and his leadership of the SVR throughout the previous year.
