Flawless beauties: the hanging parrots

PARROTS

ALL OF the hanging parrots (Loriculus) are gorgeous little creatures - but there is something about the blue-crowned (L. galgulus) that evokes the word “jewel” to my mind. Its brilliant clear colours, dainty form and wonderful plumage quality combine to make it the most attractive of the genus in my eyes. A precious jewel deserves close examination to perceive its flawless beauty and so it is with this little one. Its colours are so vibrant.
