Petal power

PEONIES ARE A BEAUTIFUL ADDITION to any garden during the spring and summer. Although they are stunning to look at, when it comes to painting them, it can sometimes be an overwhelming process due to the hundreds of petals held together by a gorgeous centre with an almost glowing yellow stamen. I find it best to try to break it down into layers; usually, a few are enough to suggest a full head of petals.
