ome years ago I wrote about my dream Apple device. In my head, it was this shape-shifting device that was a cross between an iPad and a MacBook. This really was just about a roundabout way of saying I wanted iPads to run macOS. Because Apple is notoriously secretive, it’s impossible to say if such a device ever registered in the minds of its designers and engineers. But even if it did and even if all the ingredients were in place for it to happen, I knew that it would be unlikely for Apple to make something like this. But because I’m the eternal optimist, I had hope.
