The Iridium Core features the same complex digital synth engine as its larger counterparts, the Iridium Desktop/Keys and Waldorf‘s flagship, Quantum. You won‘t experience any compromises in sound quality; the Core version is patch-compatible with the full-size Iridium and Quantum. Iridium Core offers three digital stereo oscillators, each of which can access five synthesis models. Two digital multimode filters shape the basic sound, while the analog filters remain exclusive to the Quantum.
Duotimbral, 12 voices
The Iridium Core is duotimbral, meaning it can play two sounds simultaneously and distribute them across the keyboard as splits or layers. However, compared to the larger Iridium models, it offers only 12 voices instead of 16. The hardware has been streamlined. There are significantly fewer controls for direct access and the large touch display is even more central, but Iridium Core is more compact and mobile.
Practical desktop model
The robust metal housing in stylish black and gray is similar to the Iridium Desktop and makes a very elegantDesktop, making it the better solution especially for limited studio space. The downside is that the 48 controls in the lower section for direct access to sound generation have been omitted.
