The cutting edge of modernity

Against the backdrop of the First World War, the Russian Revolution and the establishment of the Soviet Union, a rich vein of artistic modernism emerged in Ukraine during its fleeting independence in the early 20th century. From avant-garde Cubo-Futurism to vibrant theatre design, a new exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts showcases an extraordinary range of art created in the country between 1900 and the 1930s.

Featuring 65 pieces, including loans from prestigious Ukrainian museums, In the Eye of the Storm features artists whose work had a significant impact on Ukraine's culture.
