With the growing numbers of people killed, maimed, displaced, missing and kidnapped in Palestine, it can be easy to become numb. Easy to turn the page or change the channel when the images become too harrowing. Easy to think, it’ll never happen to me.
Since 7 October 2023, when around 1,200 Israelis lost their lives in a series of heinous attacks and the Israeli government launched its latest offensive on Palestinians, at least 36,096 Gazans have been killed. More than 15,000 of those were children. Each had a name, a face, a family, a future.
You’ll likely have seen the AI-generated image, showing refugee tents spelling out the words ‘All eyes’s Nicola Coughlan and F1’s Lewis Hamilton, united in outrage after an attack on the designated safe zone. The Israeli government claimed the killing of civilians had been a ‘mistake’, that they’d targeted two Hamas officials. But 45 Palestinians lost their lives. Among them, again, were children.
