The Isle of Purbeck is a beautiful peninsula on the Dorset coast shaped by Poole Harbour to the north and the English Channel to the east and south. Nearly 30 years ago when designers Jonathan Ford and Karen Welman were looking for somewhere to take time out from a hectic life in London, building their business and raising four children, Purbeck seemed the perfect place.

“We already knew the area because my sister taught in Wareham, and I windsurfed at Studland Bay,” explains Jonathan.
