On a roll

Like a lot of my retired friends, I try to keep myself active and busy. This includes spending many a Saturday morning, standing in the cold outside a supermarket rattling a tin and collecting for charity. I have become very despondent by the number of shoppers who, avoiding eye contact, rush straight past. Those that do stop usually just put a few coppers in the tin.

The other week, while out collecting once again, I moved away from the door and stood by the trolley bay. After half an hour, my tin was almost full.
