Engaging With Nature for Stronger Settings
Think about the last time you were truly engaged in the present moment. Immersed, if you will, in a sensory experience that fully captured your attention.
Being that engaged all the time is difficult, but when you are fully present it can be just as difficult—not to mention disruptive—to pause and say, “Wait! I need to capture this for my writing!” That’s where it can help to dedicate time to be observantly present.
Immersive settings capture most or all the senses, but many people have one sense they rely on most. So, how can we practice engaging all our senses to write more immersively?
One way is to go into nature. For many writers, “butt in chair” time or word count is how we measure success, but getting out into different environments can be equally as valuable.
