David Sanborn Born 1945 Saxophonist

The winner of six Grammy awards, David Sanborn excelled as both a jazz and pop saxophonist, who over a 65-year career performed and recorded with the likes of BB King, David Bowie and Stevie Wonder, among many (1975) and (1981) saw him spend many weeks in the US Billboard charts, while his playing – of both the alto saxophone and the horn – can also be heard on well-known albums such as Bruce Springsteen’s , Bowie’s and Oleta Adams’s . Born in Tampa, Florida, Sanborn took up the saxophone as a boy when a doctor suggested it to build up his chest muscles which had been weakened by polio. He also hosted jazz-related programmes on radio and TV.
