Let’s first establish that we are talking about contact when the ball is lying on the turf. A ball perched on a high tee – as for a driver – affords a more level or sweeping attack and strike, but for the vast majority of shots we face, we are looking for a contact that applies a more downward, squeezing pressure on to the ball, allowing maximum energy transfer from a lofted clubface. What would that look like? Here are two potential ‘contacts’.
