Billie the brave

Snuggling on the sofa with my two girls, I pointed the remote at the TV.

‘Bear, bear!’ Billie, then one, babbled happily.

‘OK, he’s coming,’ I laughed.

Switching on Paddington, Billie and her big sister Ada, then four, were instantly transfixed.

It was their favourite – I’d seen it hundreds of times.

‘Daddy cooooool,’ Billie sang along to the Boney M track in the film, as Ada giggled.

At only one, Billie couldn’t talk properly, but she was a chatterbox!

But in November 2022, Billie got a sickness bug. When she was still throwing up two days later I called the GP, who told me to take her to A&E.

Told it was gastroenteritis, my fiancé Zac, 29, and I hoped she would get over it soon.

But she couldn’t
