THE hybrid Polestar 1 smashed its brief as a statement of intent for the fledgling Swedish brand. It was followed by the adept Polestar 2, which proved the now EV-only business could go toe to toe with the best of the electric-car world.

Now comes the Polestar 3, which could easily become the ‘difficult third child’, rather overshadowed by the maker’s first two (rather excellent) creations.
