Here are two versions of the same photo (date unknown) from our extended family photo archive. One photo has been colour enhanced, but the more blurred version also includes a little more detail in terms of a cart (on the left-hand side of the image), which might help with dating. This scene relates to my maternal grandfather, Stanley Colquitt Shimmin (1898–1976). Both he and his father were master bakers in Liverpool and he is the son in the ‘S.C. Shimmin & Son’
