Disappearing web pages

What are they?

Pages that have vanished from the internet. Around 38 per cent of all pages that existed in 2013 are no longer available, while a quarter of all pages that were published at some point since then have also disappeared. Even eight per cent of pages that were online last year have gone.

Who discovered all that?

Analysts at). They found that clicking many links on important websites such as news sources, government and Wikipedia served up error messages such as ‘404 Page Not Found’ (see our main screenshot).
