Fake Google Play Store updates

What’s the threat?

Scammers are tricking Android users with fake Google Play Store updates that contain malware. Installing the update gives the attackers access to the victim’s phone or tablet.

First, the scammers send an email or text message claiming to be from Google, in our screenshot). Clicking the button opens your device’s Accessibility section , where the malware asks you to ‘Use New Version?’ . Clicking OK lets the malware access your text messages, control the camera and screen lock, and track what you tap on your device.
