OF ALL THE MANY CONFUSED RELATIONSHIPS I have in my life, it’s the one with national stereotypes that causes me the most heartache.

On the one hand, I detest prejudice, and like any thinking human I bristle at a sweeping generalisation about a class, race, gender.
